Should I Make My Own Tattoo Machine? : Tattoo Remove Tattoo ramoval review 2008

Should I Make My Own Tattoo Machine?
by Andy Mannion

There are many articles on the internet on how to make your own tattoo machine or gun using everyday household supplies. Electric toothbrushes ,electric guitar strings and propelling pencils are just a few of the items that have been used in home design devices. Why pay over the top priced tattoo parlour prices or buy new professional tattoo equipment when a DIY tattoo gun can be manufactured so economically? However, before you go rushing off to raid the kitchen draws serious consideration should be given to long term consequences and hidden danger that go hand in hand with home made tattoo machines.
With home made tattoo machines the lack of tuning capability makes the depth of penetration a case of trial and error. There is a high risk of going through too many skin layers causing scarring below the tattoo. Apart from the associated pain the end result is a tattoo permanently raised off the skin and unsightly.
Use a homemade tattoo machine and the chances you will also use cheap inks which may contain harmful chemicals that can result in severe allergic reactions.
Over a 1 hour tattoo sitting a tattoo machine punctures the skin 180,000 times with each hole an average depth of 1/32 of an inch. Each of these minor wounds is an open invitation to infection and such as AIDS, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, tetanus, tuberculosis and about any other blood-borne disease. Never has the need for total hygiene and sterilization been so critical. Think of it this way, Would you sit in a dentist chair knowing that the drill and instruments hadn’t been properly sterilised after just being used on the previous patient? Don’t be fooled by backstreet sterilization techniques. If it was as simple as heating a dirty needle under a flame and then cleaning in down with alcohol the sterilization equipment manufacturers would have gone out of business years ago.
It is impossible to achieve high quality tattoo designs with a home made machine. Once the initial novelty factor has worn off the chances are that will be left with an embarrassing reminder that will possibly mark you for the rest of your life. It is little wonder that many tattooist specialise on cover up work of tattoo designs produced on homemade tattoo equipment and more money is being spent on tattoo laser removal treatments than ever before.
The recommendation is that homemade tattoo machines should be avoided like the plague. Find yourself a tattoo design that you like visit a reputable tattoo parlour and leave it to the professionals. ?
